Don't be a fossil fool – invest in solar for your business!
A power purchase agreement (PPA) is a contract between the commercial solar system owner (investor) and the business owner (off-taker). A PPA allows a business owner to host a solar installation on their site without any upfront costs. In return for the usage of the investment free solar system, the business owner purchases the electricity from the system owner at a pre-determined rate over a fixed term. Typically, the PPA rate is below the utility rate and fixed for a 10 to 20 years PPA term.
While the business owner puts $0 down, the PPA provider owns the system and is responsible for the warranty and maintenance.
If you choose a solar operating lease, the solar lease provider owns the solar system, receives all of the federal tax credits and accelerated appreciation, while you receive the SMART incentives and the solar electricity.
You have a fixed monthly lease payment with a buyout option in year 7 at 15% of the commercial solar system value. With this lease option you receive benefits of a reduced utility bill, and will own the system, if you decide to purchase it at the 7th year.
If your business doesn't consume a lot of electricity but if you have a large space, suitable for a commercial solar installation, a solar site lease could be the way to go. You don't pay anything for the solar system installation and don't use the solar electricity produced. While the investor chooses an external off-taker, or multiple, to consume the energy produced, you simply lease out your roof or land to the solar investor and receive an annual lease payment. Car parks are very attractive, with solar car shading structures installed by the investor which can be used by the property owner.
To eliminate upfront costs, Brightway Energy offers 100% financing with simple loans for your business. This allows you to own your commercial solar system, take advantage of all incentives including the tax credits, and generate a profit in the first year. Your electricity bill savings and incentives exceed your monthly loan repayments, giving you positive cash flow from the onset.
Purchasing your commercial solar system directly provides you the highest return on your investment. All Federal and State incentives remain with you and there will be no interest payments or finance fees. With an outright purchase of your solar installation , 85% of your investment is eligible for accelerated depreciation, more than 50% is recovered through incentives in the first year and your annualized return on investment (ROI) exceeds 10%.
